"It is almost impossible to get somewhere without planning that journey. Spend as much time planning your career as you might an extraordinary vacation. Where do you want to go? How will you get there? When do you want to get there? What stops will you make along the way? If something goes wrong, can I course-correct? It all starts with planning."

Tim Carnahan is an energetic financial executive with 35 years of retail experience and 8 years of satellite / telecommunications experience. He has successfully worked with industry leaders in both fields. His focus on financial reporting, performance metrics, process improvement, operational efficiencies and leadership have been proven to provide value above and beyond his financial expertise to the organizations he has served. He has recently authored a book: “Under Development: A Commonsense Approach to Being Your Best.” This book targets professional and personal development while adding value to any organization. It looks to assist young people and individuals stuck in their jobs.

Carnahan has progressive experience in financial management finishing the last third of his career as CFO of The Save Mart Company, The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company, Americans for Prosperity, Intelsat General and Shoprite Supermarkets, Inc. Additionally, as the financial lead in his CFO roles, he prepared and presented to the Board of Directors of those companies. He has led the financial functions at Grand Union and Intelsat S.A. as well. His accomplishments reflect his passion for performance. These include reorganization activities, debt refinancing, operational efficiency, business growth and timeliness/accuracy of actionable financial exception reporting while engaging his area of responsibility in a more collaborative approach with the entire company. His commitment to inclusive and participative management has been recognized as a welcome change by company leadership teams. He has had special emphasis on compliance and the control environment over his career. He has facilitated outstanding working relationships collaborating with external constituencies such as public auditors, attorneys, bankers, consultants, and service and product providers. Carnahan would be endorsed by these constituents as a trusted and competent partner. He has also worked in union and non-union environments.

Carnahan served on the Intelsat General Board of Directors, a particularly challenging role given the company’s government proxy status and that relationship to the parent as well on the Boards of several non-profit organizations. Carnahan was elected to the Board of Directors and treasurer of his community’s Homeowners’ Association (1,250 homes with the community value of over $1.5 billion).

Leadership stands out as one of Carnahan’s most notable attributes, working cross-functionally and exerting a positive influence and strategic approach. He has actively taken on significant financial and non-financial challenges, while being the most participative of leaders. He has sought out and welcomed these challenges in some less-than-optimal situations, remaining dedicated to attaining goals, exceeding expectations, and motivating those around him.

Carnahan has also always had a special focus on employee development, creating progressive opportunities within his department to retain and motivate his team. This is evidenced by his book. He was a respected advisor to employees of all levels. He has participated in formal and informal mentoring programs which have included assisting all levels ranging from college graduates to CEO’s. He currently maintains a healthy client list for his management coaching initiative where the focus is professional development, crisis management, personal development, emotional intelligence, and pursuit of promotional opportunities while adding value to their respective organizations. Additionally, he has conducted sessions on workplace culture focusing on how culture drives success for both the organization and the employee.

Community involvement over many years includes “Kids Save” – providing a summer home for Columbian orphans and advocating adoption, “Project Self-Sufficiency” – a support mechanism for single mothers and their children, MS Society – supporting research for the cure of MS through walks/runs/other fundraisers, developing and conducting seminars for underprivileged adults regarding personal finances/credit and a 53 year affiliation with St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital – which provides free care for children with catastrophic diseases as examples. Carnahan participates in community value-added activities assisting others in need including programs in conjunction with the Chamber of Commerce targeting youth in suboptimal situations. He also is an avid pickleball player and has won the 2025 Pickleball U.S. Open in Men’s Singles in his age bracket.  Lastly, he coached youth sports for many years.

Carnahan resides in Bradenton, Florida with his wife Diane. They have two grown children, a daughter-in-law and two grandchildren.

Carnahan earned a Bachelor of Science and Accounting from the University of Tennessee at Martin and a Master of Business Administration from Nova Southeastern University.
